Description

Rules for Skating:
Team Composition: In individual skating events, each skater competes alone. For team relay events, teams typically consist of 4 skaters, with each skater taking turns in a relay-style race.

Race Duration and Distance: The duration or distance of a skating race depends on the event type. For speed skating, races can range from short distances (500m) to long distances (5000m). In figure skating, the event is based on performances, with each skater given a set amount of time (usually 2-4 minutes) to perform their routine.

Scoring (for Figure Skating): In figure skating, skaters are judged on their technical skills (e.g., jumps, spins) and artistic impression (e.g., choreography, presentation). Points are awarded based on the difficulty and execution of elements. The highest and lowest scores are typically discarded to calculate the final score.

Scoring (for Speed Skating): In speed skating, the skater who completes the race in the shortest amount of time wins. The race is measured based on time taken to finish the prescribed distance. In relay events, the time is calculated based on the team's combined effort.

Race Rules (for Speed Skating): Skaters must stay within their lane on the track and must not impede or obstruct other skaters. In team relay races, skaters must exchange the baton or tag within a designated zone. Failure to follow lane and exchange rules can result in disqualification.

Fouls and Violations: Common fouls in speed skating include crossing into another skater's lane, false starts, and improper relay exchanges. In figure skating, violations may include performing illegal lifts, using excessive force, or exceeding the allowed time for a routine. Violations can result in penalties, point deductions, or disqualification.
